The functions of this Committee include:
1 - post-season recognition for players and coaches, including six major categories
(Click here for information regarding the awards process)
2 - review and determination of new Areas
3 - the representation of all boys' high school coaches to US Lacrosse
4 - communicating with all boys' high school coaches through the Area Chairmen
5 - working with the Men's International Committee on the selection of US Men's Under 19 Team coaches
6 - working with the Men's International Committee on oversight on the staffing of the Under 19 Team Tryout Selection Committee
7 - All-Star Team coach selection

Committee functions are managed by an Executive Committee made up of current and former high school coaches and are supported by the US Lacrosse Men's Division Director. The membership of this committee is attached along with the contact information for the Area Chairmen. The Area Chairmen list is divided into four quadrants that are used for National All-Star Game selection. This Executive Committee conducts its business within an Area structure that covers virtually every state and region in the United States. Each Area is managed by an Area Chairman who has the responsibility of communicating committee functions and recognition to all coaches within the Area.

Oversight of awards and recognition for each Area in six major categories:

All-American
Academic All-American
Coach of the Year
Assistant Coach of the Year
Man of the Year (Area and National)
National Senior All-Star games

NOTE A: In many states, state associations and/or leagues determine their own definition of "varsity". Clubs can exist in states that have sanctioned lacrosse.

NOTE B: The National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations (NFHS) sanctions boy's high school lacrosse in many states. NF function in those states only extends to rules-writing.

NOTE C: The following terms are used in this document:

CLUB: a team which is not under the direct authority of the school's board of education (publicity) or governing body (private).
SANCTION: The act of formal recognition by an authorized local, regional, or state association. Individual state Athletic Associations should be contacted for state-specific questions involving authorized sanctioning.

NOTE D: US Lacrosse and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) collaborate to develop a standardized set of high school rules for boy's lacrosse. The mission of the NFHS is to serve its members and its related professional groups by providing leadership and national collaboration for the administration of interscholastic athletics which will enhance the educational experience of high school students and reduce risks of their participation.

AREA ELIGIBILITY

NATIONAL SENIOR SHOWCASE GAMES
Four teams are selected to compete in games that are held in June of each year. The selection follows an open application process that is promoted on the US Lacrosse web site and by Area Chairman. Each Area Chairman is allowed to send up to seven (7) applications to US Lacrosse for consideration. The applications are then sent to the respective Team Coordinator who oversees the selection of his team. It is up to the Coordinators to select the teams while taking the following factors into account:
   • geographical representation – the goal is to have every Area represented on one of the four teams.
   • positional considerations – every attempt will be made to have a balanced team with the appropriate number of attackmen, midfielders, defensemen and goalies.
   • player availability – all applicants who are not selected will be considered alternates.

NOTE: Being selected as an All-American or an Academic All-American does not automatically guarantee a spot on one of the All-Star teams.
