Born in Baltimore, Md., July 4, 1908, Thomas Biddison graduated
from Baltimore City College High School in 1924. He then earned
his bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1928, and
a law degree from the University of Maryland Law School in 1931.
Biddison spent his whole life in the practice of law and civic affairs
in Baltimore and the State of Maryland. He became a leading political
figure as Assistant State's Attorney, Chairman of the Board and
Director of the Maryland Department of Correction, and the City
Solicitor of Baltimore from 1947-58. Tom was also president of Rosedale
Federal Savings and Loan Association, president of Baltimore City
College Alumni, president of Law Officers, member of the Masons,
Wednesday Law Club, Hopkins Club, and the Baltimore, the Maryland,
and the American Bar Associations.
Biddison was a fine athlete in high school winning letters in football
as well as in lacrosse. At Hopkins Biddison played football and
lacrosse, earning All-Maryland honors and four lacrosse letters,
helping the Blue Jays to National Championships from 1926-28. Biddison
was an All-American lacrosse player for three years and is the only
player in history to make the All-American team at both close defense
and then close attack. He is a member of the All-Time Hopkins Lacrosse
Team and the 1928 U.S Olympic team. After leaving Hopkins Biddison
coached for three years at Baltimore Friends School.
Biddison was married to Robin Smith on September 4, 1934, and leaves
three children: Robin, who was employed at the University of Hawaii;
Thomas, Jr., a law student and bailiff; and Alan, a lieutenant in
the Army Corps of Engineers. Both Tom, Jr., and Alan were excellent
lacrosse players at Johns Hopkins and West Point, respectively.
Thomas Biddison passed away on August 7, 1958. His Hall-of-Fame
certificate was presented to his family.
