LAXWORLD and Sports Her Way To Sponsor US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates Championships
This year's event will be held in St. Louis from May 8-11
Baltimore LaxWorld, together with Sports Her Way and
manufacturing partner STX, has signed on as the presenting sponsor
for the US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Championships.
The term of the sponsorship begins with this year's event,
which will be held from May 8-11, 2002 in St. Louis, and runs through
the 2004 championships.
We are extremely pleased with the commitment from LaxWorld
and Sports Her Way to this event through their presenting sponsor
status, said Jody Martin, Men's Division Director of
US Lacrosse. We are very appreciative of the professionalism
and service they will bring to the event for the next three years.
To be in partnership with such an established and well-known retailer
says good things about the prestige of the tournament.
We've been involved with some of the league tournaments
for the last three of four years and this is really taking it to
the next level, said Bobby Martino, vice president of LaxWorld.
This was a group that needed some help with an identity and
if you look at our background, we've always been involved with
helping with new programs getting started. This was a natural fit
for us.
The US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates are a group of traditional
college club programs from virtually every region of the country.
There are more than 140 men's intercollegiate associates teams
competing this year and more than 100 women's teams. This year
will mark the sixth consecutive year that the men's national
championship has been played in St. Louis and this will be the second
women's championship. Colorado State defeated Stanford to win
last year's men's championship and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo
defeated Navy to win the inaugural women's championship.
This year's tournament will include 16 men's teams and
eight women's teams competing for national championships. The
tournament is held at the Anheuser-Busch Sports Centre and is hosted
by the St. Louis Chapter of US Lacrosse.
