The 2002-03 United States Women's Lacrosse Elite Team will play two exhibition games the weekend of Oct. 19-20. The U.S. meets up with defending NCAA Division I champion Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Class of 1952 Stadium in Princeton, N.J. and then plays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.

US Lacrosse Names 2002 Girls High School Acadmic All-Americans (8/16/02)
US Lacrosse today honored 663 student-athletes who earned a 3.5 cumulative GPA while playing high school lacrosse.

2003 U.S. Under-19 Women's Team Named (8/14/02)
Twenty-four high school players have been named to the 2003 U.S. Women's Under-19 lacrosse training team by US Lacrosse. The 16 players that will represent the United States in next summer's International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA) Under-19 World Championship will be selected from the training team. The players selected represent high schools from seven different states and the District of Columbia.

US Lacrosse Announces Creation of Southern Ohio Regional Chapter (8/6/02)
US Lacrosse has teamed with lacrosse enthusiasts in the southern part of Ohio to more formally develop the sport and create the 49th regional chapter.

U.S. Women's Elite and Developmental Teams Named (8/6/02)
A total of 42 players were named to the United States Women's Elite and Developmental lacrosse teams for 2002-03 as announced by US Lacrosse, the national governing body for the sport. Twenty players were named to the Elite team and 22 were named to the Developmental team.

US Lacrosse Names 2002 Girls' High School All-Americans (8/1/02)
More than 250 student-athletes were honored as All-Americans today by the US Lacrosse Women's Division Coaches Council High School Committee.

US Lacrosse Invites 117 Players for U.S. Women's Under-19 Team Tryouts at United Sports Training Center (7/29/02)
US Lacrosse will welcome the best girls' lacrosse players in the nation to try out for the defending IFWLA U-19 champion U.S. team Aug. 12-14 in Downingtown, Pa.

US Lacrosse Announces 2002 Boys' High School All-Americans (7/26/02)
The US Lacrosse Men's Division Coaches Council High School Committee today named the 2002 Boys' High School Lacrosse All-America Team.

Shanahan Named Best and Fairest Player (7/18/02)
Doug Shanahan was named the Best and Fairest Player at the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship, which concluded in Perth, Australia on July 14. Shanahan helped the United States win its sixth straight ILF championship. Shanahan led the U.S. with 16 goals, including four in the 18-15 championship game victory over Canada.

US Lacrosse Announces 2003 U.S. Men's Under-19 Lacrosse Team Players and Officials (7/15/02)
After a four-day tryout, 23 players have been named to represent the U.S. in next summer's International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) Under-19 World Championship. Three officials also have been named to participate in the tournament.

U.S. Beats Canada to Win ILF Championship (7/14/02)
Doug Shanahan (Hofstra '01) scored four goals and the United States overcame a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat Canada 18-15 for the 2002 International Lacrosse Federation World Championship. The U.S. has now won six consecutive ILF titles since losing the 1978 championship to Canada.

U.S. Advances to ILF World Chamionship Game (7/12/02)
Kevin Lowe (Princeton '94) scored four goals and added an assist to lead the United States past the Iroquois Nationals 18-8 in the semifinal round of the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship at the UWA Sports Park. The U.S. will meet Canada for the ILF World Championship on July 14.

U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team to Meet Iroquois Nationals in Semifinals (7/11/02)
The United States will meet the Iroquois Nationals in the semfinal round on the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship on July 12. The Iroquois Nationals advanced to the semifinals by defeating Japan 19-14 in overtime. The United States went 4-0 in pool play (Blue Division), including a 22-6 win over the Iroquois Nationals, and is the top seed for the semifinals.

U.S. Beats England 21-3 to Finish Pool Play Unbeaten (7/10/02)
Twelve different players scored goals for the United States in a 21- 3 victory over England in the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship at the UWA Sports Park. The U.S. finishes pool play with a 4-0 record in the Blue Division and advances to the semifinals where it will play the winner of a play-in game between Japan and the Iroquois Nationals. The semifinals will be played on July 12.

US Lacrosse Members to Recieve Discounted Admission to MLL All-Star Game (7/10/02)
US Lacrosse has teamed with the Bowie Baysox, host of this year's Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game, to provide members with discounted admission prices to the second annual game featuring the league's best players. The game is set for 4 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Md.

US Men's Lacrosse Team Beats Canada 14-9 (7/9/02)
Ryan Boyle (Princeton '04), Steve Dusseau (Georgetown '02) and Doug Shanahan (Hofstra '01) each scored three goals to lead the United States past archrival Canada 14-9 during the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship at the UWA Sports Park. The victory clinches the Blue Division for the United States (3-0), giving it the top seed for the semifinal round.

U.S. Men's Under-19 Lacrosse Team Tryouts Begin Thursday at UMBC (7/8/02)
US Lacrosse will welcome 120 of the nation's best players to a four-day tryout for the 2003 U.S. Men's U-19 Team, which will comepte next summer for the ILF U-19 World Championship. The tryout is open to the public and media.

U.S. Defeats Australia 22-7 (7/7/02)
Kevin Lowe had four goals and Michael Powell added three goals and four assists as the United States downed host Australia 22-7 in pool play of the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship. The U.S. jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one quarter and outshot Australia 51-27 in the contest to move to 2-0 in the competition. Darren Nicholas led Australia with four goals and Dave Whitlock added two.

U.S. Men Open ILF Play With a Victory (7/6/02)
The United States opened play at the 2002 International Lacrosse Federation World Championship by defeating the Iroquois Nationals 22-6. Kevin Lowe led the United States with four goals and Ryan Boyle and Bobby Benson each added three goals. Gewas Schindler led the Iroquois Nationals with three goals.

U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team Begins ILF World Championship Play Saturday (7/1/02)
In search of its sixth straight ILF World Championship, the U.S. opens up against the Iroquois Nationals at 7 p.m. local time Saturday in Perth, Australia. Seventeen nations are sending teams to compete in the 10-day lacrosse festival.

US Lacrosse hosted its annual senior high school all-star games on June 29 at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst as part of the 2002 US Lacrosse Youth Festival.

National Lacrosse Hall of Fame Announces 2002 Class (6/24/02)
US Lacrosse has announced the selection of the 45th class for the National Hall of Fame. The class includes a group of 10 individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport as players, coaches, officials and administrators. The 10 new inductees are: Nancy Vadner Chance, Zack Colburn, Heather Dow, Del Dressel, Eleanor Kay Hess, Sandra Kay Hoody, Roddy Marino, George McGeeney, Bill Tierney, Julie R. Williams. There are now 293 inductees to the National Hall of Fame.

U.S. Men Travel to San Francisco for Exhibition Tuesday (6/24/02)
At 4-0 after an 11-8 win over the Philadelphia All-Stars, the 2002 U.S. Men's Team begins its week-long stay in California that will include two exhibitions and practice.

The 2002 U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team continues its exhibition schedule at 3 p.m. Saturday against the Philadelphia All-Stars at the Haverford School. The exhibition is part of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Festival.

U.S. Men Move to 3-0 (6/17/02)
The 2002 U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team remained undefeated with a 20-5 victory over the Hudson Valley All-Stars on a rainy Saturday evening. The U.S. is now 3-0 on its six-game exhibition tour before departing for next month's International Lacrosse Federation World Championship.

The 2002 U.S. Men's Team will take on the Hudson Valley All-Stars at 6 p.m. Saturday at Mahopac High School in Mahopac, N.Y.

The 2002 U.S. Men's Team squares off against the Capital Lacrosse Club All-Stars at 3 p.m. Saturday at Georgetown Prep School in Rockville, Md. The U.S. defeated the New Jersey Pride 14-10 Sunday in its exhibition opener.

Players Selected for Men's 2003 U-19 Tryouts (5/28/02)
A total of 120 players have been selected to tryout for the 2003 U.S. U-19 Men's Lacrosse Team. The tryouts will be held from July 11-14, 2002 at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

US Lacrosse 2002 Women's Division National Tournament Results (5/28/02)
Mid Atlantic 1 captured the Valerie Walchak Trophy with a 10-9, come-from-behind win over New York 1 in the High School Division I Championship Game. Award winners also were announced.

US Men's Team Beats New Jersey Pride 14-10 (5/26/02)
Scott Doyle had four goals, including two two-point goals, and Darren Lowe handed out eight assists as the 2002 U.S. Men's Lacrosse team defeated the New Jersey Pride of Major League Lacrosse 14-10 in its opening exhibition game.

US Lacrosse Announces 2002 All-Intercollegiate Associates Teams (5/24/02)
The US Lacrosse Men's and Women's Intercollegiate Associates Councils have named 125 student-athletes to their All-IA Teams. The Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates Council also released its All-Academic Team.

U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team Set for Exhibition Opener Sunday vs. MLL's New Jersey Pride (5/20/02)
The 2002 U.S. Men's Team begins its tuneups Sunday for the ILF World Championship with its exhibition opener against the New Jersey Pride of Major League Lacrosse. Faceoff is 6 p.m. at Bridgewater Raritan High School in Bridgewater, N.J., and tickets will be sold at the gate.

IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Americans Announced (5/20/02)
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association and US Lacrosse are pleased to announce the All-America teams for the 2002 season. This is the first year that the two organizations have joined efforts in promoting the accomplishments of student-athletes on the lacrosse field. The awards are sponsored by Brine Lacrosse, Inc.

Sonoma State Men, Cal Poly Women Win US Lacrosse IA National Championships (5/15/02)
Sonoma State dethroned Colorado State 13-10, and Cal Poly repeated as champion with a 10-5 win over Air Force. All-Tournament teams were announced following the four-day event in St. Louis.

US Lacrosse Announces Men's and Women's IA Championship Fields (5/2/02)
Sonoma State men and Cal Poly women earn top seeds as sixth annual championship event return to the Anheuser-Busch Center, May 8-11 in St. Louis, Mo.

Sonoma State Finishes Regular Season on top of MDIA Poll (4/17/02)
In the final regular season US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates poll, the Cossacks are a unaimous No. 1 pick, while BYU remains at No. 2, and unbeaten Auburn jumps into No. 3.

Navy, Cal-Poly Still on Top of WDIA (4/15/02)
Unbeaten Navy and 12-1 Cal-Poly remain 1-2 in the fifth US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates poll. Georgia is 8-0 and climbed to third, and four new teams entered the top 25.

Sonoma State Tops US Lacrosse MDIA Poll (4/5/02)
The Sonoma State Cossacks turned back the #3 BYU Cougars of Brigham Young 16-9 in Provo last weekend in the week's marquee match-up to solidify their #1 ranking in the latest US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates Top 25 poll. The Cossacks were the unanimous top pick of the 30 poll voters and also knocked off #5 Cal-Santa Barbara and #11 Texas A&M. Despite the setback, Brigham Young climbed one notch to #2 via decisive wins over then #2 Colorado State and #8 Stanford.

2002 U.S. Men's Team Exhibition Schedule Released (4/3/02)
The 2002 U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team has announced a six-game exhibition schedule, highlighted by a May 26 game against the New Jersey Pride of Major League Lacrosse. The United States will be competing in the International Lacrosse Federation World Championship in Perth, Australia from July 5-15 and these six games will be its final tune-ups before that event.

Several teams altered their positions, but Navy remains the leader in the fourth WDIA poll. Cal-Poly stays at the No. 2 spot.

US Lacrosse will hold its annual women's National Player Development Camp at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., July 24-27, 2002. Application forms are now available.

Josh Coffman to Replace Andy Ross on 2002 U.S. Men's Team (3/26/02)
Josh Coffman, a senior at Syracuse University, has been selected to replace Andy Ross on the 2002 U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team for this summer's International Lacrosse Federation World Championship in Perth, Australia. Ross, a pilot in the Navy, will be unable to participate this summer due to a deployment beginning in May.

US Lacrosse Adds J.P. Morgan Chase as 2002 U.S. Men's Team Flagship Sponsor (2/28/02)
The New York-based global financial services firm has signed on to help US Lacrosse defray costs of fielding the U.S. Men's Team in the ILF World Championship, July 6-14, in Perth, Australia.

Navy Takes Over No. 1 Ranking in WDIA Poll (2/22/02)
With top-ranked Cal Poly falling to UCLA and No. 4 Clemson getting upset by both Emory and Florida State, there was bound to be some movement in the US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates poll. The shakeups have allowed Navy, the 2001 US Lacrosse WDIA runner-up, to move into the top spot.

Colorado State Moves Up to Top Spot in MDIA Poll (2/21/02)
Brigham Young's tenure on top of the US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates (USL MDIA) poll was cut short earlier this week by California-Santa Barbara. The Gauchos knocked off the top-rated Cougars in California by a count of 10-7 on Monday afternoon, opening the door for defending champion and preseason #2, Colorado State, to take over the top spot in the first poll of the 2002 season. The Rams didn't do their cause any harm in a decisive opening win over Colorado School of the Mines. CSU collected 27 out of a possible 30 first place votes in gathering 742 points to claim the #1 ranking.

National Cherry Blossom Festival Adds Lacrosse (2/21/02)
The Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse is proud to announce that lacrosse has been added to the list of sporting events held in conjunction with the National Cherry Blossom Festival each spring on the Mall in Washington, DC. On April 13-14, 2002, from 10 am to 3 pm, please come enjoy some of the best post-collegiate and collegiate club players in the country as they do battle in a 16-team women's and 10-team men's tournament. Games will be played alongside the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

Lax World, Sports Her Way To Sponsor IA Championship (2/15/02)
LaxWorld, together with Sports Her Way and manufacturing partner STX, has signed on as the presenting sponsor for the US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Championships. The term of the sponsorship begins with this year's event, which will be held from May 8-11, 2002 in St. Louis, and runs through the 2004 championships.

Cal Poly Remains on Top in WDIA Poll (2/8/02)
Defending champion Cal Paly-SLO remained on top in the first US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates poll, issued on Friday, Feb. 8.

US Lacrosse Announces Creation of Wisconsin Regional Chapter (2/6/02)
The Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation becomes US Lacrosse's 46th official chapter.

Lacrosse Magazine Announces Preseason Rankings (1/17/02)
The defending national champions top the charts in six of the seven categories in Lacrosse Magazine's annual poll of the nation's collegiate coaches. Only last year's women's NCAA Division II champion C.W. Post failed to earn the top spot. The coaches selected last year's runner-up, West Chester, to finish first while C.W. Post was picked third.

Cal Poly Tops First US Lacrosse Women's Division IA Poll (1/14/02)
Defending national champion Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo tops the first US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates Preseason Top 25 poll. The Intercollegiate Associates are comprised of more than 100 college club teams from around the country.

MDOC Election Results (1/3/02)
The Men's Division Officials Council of US Lacrosse has announced its election of new officers.
