US LACROSSE WOMEN'S DIVISION NATIONAL TOURNAMENT EXPANDS
BALTIMORE — The US Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament will include an additional division when it is played this year. A new division specifically for high school seniors has been added to the tournament which has a high school division and club division. The 71st edition of the National Tournament takes place at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., from May 29-30.
"The high school division of the National Tournament has become an important recruiting opportunity for players and coaches, so many regions elect not to include high school seniors on their teams for that reason," said Erin Brown Millon, Women's Division director of US Lacrosse. "The National Tournament is such an important part of the women's lacrosse community that we wanted to allow a place for the high school seniors to continue to participate in the event."
Last year's National Tournament featured 36 teams participating in the high school division and 22 club teams (college-aged players and older). The new high seniors division will have eight teams for the inaugural year with up to 20 players per team. The high school committee of the Women's Division Coaches Council will assign players to teams.
Application procedures for the high school senior division and the main high school division are available on the Women's Division Coaches Council page.
US Lacrosse, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, is the national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse.
