Management Group Selected for U.S. Indoor Team

BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse has announced that a group led by Jacques Bagley, Graham D’Alvia, Kevin Finneran and Scott Neiss has been named to coordinate all aspects and logistics of the United States team that will compete in the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) Indoor World Championship in May 2007 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

"This championship plays an important role in helping to develop international lacrosse and we want to support that effort," said Jody Martin, Men’s Division director of US Lacrosse. "We are moving towards bringing this program under the US Lacrosse umbrella in the future, but our focus since our inception has been on field lacrosse. This group has the background and experience with the indoor game to allow the U.S. to put the best team into the championship."

"With the support of US Lacrosse we are looking forward to creating and managing an elite team of lacrosse players who will represent the U.S. on the world indoor lacrosse stage," said D’Alvia.

The inaugural ILF Indoor World Championship was played in 2003 in Toronto with Canada winning the gold medal. The U.S. team, coordinated by representatives from the National Lacrosse League, finished third. Up to eight nations will be competing in the 2007 championship with confirmations in from Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Iroquois Nationals, Scotland and the U.S.

Bagley served as assistant general manager and assistant coach for the Chicago Machine in 2006. He has run a club team in the Philadelphia Box Lacrosse Association for several years and has coached at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. D’Alvia helped start the lacrosse program at Susquehanna University and over the last decade plus has played in countries around the world in the club lacrosse circuit.

Finneran, a captain for the 2003 U.S. indoor team, has had a long and distinguished career in both field and indoor lacrosse. He was the general manager and head coach for the Chicago Machine of Major League Lacrosse in 2006 and as a player, ranks as the fifth-leading scorer in the history of the National Lacrosse League. Finneran was a member of the 1998 U.S. team that won the ILF World Championship. Neiss works as the director of Internet media for the National Lacrosse League and previously served as director of public relations for the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse.
