US Lacrosse Announces 2008 Girls' High School Academic All-Americans

BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse is pleased to announce that over 1,500 girls high school lacrosse players have been named as Academic All-Americans for the 2008 season. The process is coordinated by the high school committee of the US Lacrosse Women’s Division Coaches Council. Players are nominated and presented to US Lacrosse by each of the 60 US Lacrosse chapters.

In order to be selected, a player must meet the following criteria:

• Be a starter or significant contributor,
• Carry at least 50 percent of her course load in college preparatory courses of honor or advanced placement level,
• Have a cumulative weighted grade point average of at least 3.6,
• Be a junior or senior in high school,
• And make significant contributions to the school and/or community beyond participation on school athletic teams.

In addition, the school’s head coach must be a member of US Lacrosse and each school is limited to a maximum of five honorees.
