The Coaches and Umpires Collegiate Lacrosse Committee was developed as a means to have a non-confrontational avenue to communicate between the coaches and umpires regarding college umpiring and game concerns. Its birth came in September of 2001 when it was determined that both the coaches and umpires could be better served by understanding each other's concerns. Those in attendance were Priscilla Anderson, Melissa Falen, Susie Ganzenmuller, Marge Garinger, and Denise Wescott. Since then, regular attendance has been made up of coaches representing all NCAA divisions as well as the National Umpiring Committee and the Umpires’ Ethics Committee.
Whereas the purpose of this committee is to voice concerns and discuss avenues for each of the constituencies to institute change or improvement, this committee has developed a College Match Evaluation Form that will enable coaches/umpires to address pre- and post-game concerns. Coaches/officials/administrators may either fill out the form and send electronically or submit by USPS mail. All enquiries will be attended to by a joint committee of umpires and coaches who will address the issues promptly.
The Coaches and Umpires Collegiate Lacrosse Committee is also the avenue for all of the collegiate levels of play to have input regarding the established USLacrosse umpire game fees. Current discussions are underway regarding the 2008 umpire game fees and policies. Letters have been sent to all collegiate varsity and intercollegiate associate programs requesting their input. This will be a continuous avenue to establish fees for upcoming years.
Umpires should contact their Super Region Chairs with their input on game fees and policies. The committee meets in November, January, and May of each year.
