NYC Meet & Greet and Play Day

NYC Play Day
On June 24th, four local New York City club teams took the field at Greenwich Academy for the inaugural WDPCC sponsored Women’s Post Collegiate Club Play Day. The goal of the afternoon was to provide an opportunity for Post Collegiate Club teams to play lacrosse in a friendly, competitive tournament. Central, Gotham lacrosse, Westchester lacrosse and the Long Island Lady Lizards participated in a round robin play day.

Since each team did not play everyone, we did not crown a champion. However, each team did bring their "A" game and the games were fast, competitive and exciting to play and watch. The Long Island Lady Lizards had a large squad and pressured their opponent end to end. They showed seamless transition and high energy play. Westchester, on their home turf, had great defensive stops and, on the offensive end, great looks on the cage. Gotham was strong all over the field, especially in the defensive series. Central picked up some players at the field to round out their roster and the team instantly connected. They were aggressive off the draws and worked the ball for key looks on attack.

The event was a success and we are excited to anniversary the Play Day. We are excited to continue the mission of the WDPCC in the New York area and increase the local opportunities for Post Collegiate Lacrosse.

NYC Meet & Greet
The WDPCC is committed to bringing together this exploding region of the country, now with 8 total teams.  The WDPCC coordinated a conference call, which lead to the first ever meet & greet of teams in the area.  NYAC generously donated the space and refreshments for the day.  Adirondack, Central, Gotham, LI Lizards, NYAC and Westchester all participated.  The group is planning a Play Day that they hope will develop in a formidable league in the near future.  Katie Lavin, Events Chair and NYAC player, is leading the charge.  If you are interested in learning more or doing the same in your region, please contact Katie.
