Welcome to the Winter 2006 - Off Season - Edition!

After much adieu, some technical difficulties and a winter that lingered longer than it should have, we bring to you the winter edition of our newsletter.

This newsletter, now quarterly, is full of information and resources that will strengthen your pursuits as a team and individually, and further connect our community!

We profile some of our most established clubs, highlight emerging clubs, feature international lacrosse news, coaches on the move, WDPCC developments and more.

Please spread the word and encourage players, coaches, and anyone interested in women's post collegiate play to sign up to receive our newsletter. To submit something for publication, please contact our editor, Dana Czapnik at danaczapnik@yahoo.com.

WDPCC IN 2006!

2005 was a powerful year for the WDPCC. We launched our newsletter, players at large initiative, hosted our very first summit, continued to develop our website, increased exposure in USL Magazine and Convention, and more. We hope to build on our success, making 2006 bigger and better.

Website: Introducing Team and Tournament Profiles
We are making our website even better in 2006! We plan to launch team and tournament profiles - a brief snapshot of each team and tournament with pics!. We need your help - please respond to our questionnaire, keep our online information accurate and notify us of any information we might be missing. Contact our website committee with any of the above: Melissa Montefusco , Jessica Bates , and Courtney O'Sullivan.

Join the WDPCC At Large Team - Florida, Lake Placid, Ocean City and the National Tournament!
Our Players At-Large database continues to grow! Thank you. We know you are out there so sign up. This year we plan to offer opportunities to play at some of the best post-collegiate tournaments. Already we had a team participate in the Florida Lacrosse Classic in Jan '06. We plan to offer the same opportunity for Lake Placid, Ocean City and the National Tournament. So if you are a player not yet associated with a team, but still want to play join our database. National Tournament: Memorial Day 2006
For the very first time post-collegiate teams will be able to participate in the National Tournament as standing teams! The WDPCC worked very hard on making this possible. So come the end of May compete in the National Tournament - the oldest and most historic women's tournament! For details and the downloadable application visit http://www.uslacrosse.org/events/wdnt/index06.phtml

Join the WDPCC Council
We have grown by leaps and bounds, but we still need you! The WDPCC has several opportunities to join. Any interest in becoming an Events Co-Chair, Marketing Co-Chair or Newsletter Co-Editor? Or if you have another position in mind, let us know. To find out more about each committee and our wonderful women that make things happen visit: http://www.uslacrosse.org/wdpcc/aboutus.htm. To join email us at Ayana.Green@verizon.net.

Newsletter Updates - Quarterly / Seek Co-Editor
We are now a quarterly newsletter with four editions a year - Winter (Off-Season), Spring (Pre-Season), Summer (In-Season), and Fall (Winding Down). Dana Czapnik, our editor, is holding down the fort. Our former co-editor, Judy Fong is now in Med School in Grenada (congrats Judes)! So we need someone to give Dana a hand. If being a co-editor is too much responsibility, then consider submitting a piece or even just ideas to Dana. We are always looking for a good story!

Start Up Kit - Download Now!
We have completed our very own manual specifically for those of you ready to start your club team. Avoid pitfalls, get ideas and learn everything you need to know to get started. This is a must read. Or if you have any ideas to add let us know. http://www.uslacrosse.org/wdpcc/
